At the bench

Silver Nomad is an independent jewelry project built around making things by hand.

An ongoing exploration of silver, natural stones, and the possibilities within them.

Each piece begins at the bench, shaped by hand through experimentation, observation, and a process that leaves room for the unexpected.

  • Built from raw material

A piece of jewelry begins as silver sheet, wire or grain. It is cut, formed, soldered, filed and finished at the bench.

  • Shaped by fire

Some of my freeform pieces begin by melting and manipulating the silver itself. Heat creates forms and textures that I then work with rather than trying to reproduce from a fixed mold.

  • No fixed starting point

Not every piece begins with a finished drawing.
Sometimes the stone leads the design, sometimes the metal does, and the final form develops through the making itself.

WRITTEN IN STONE

Formed over immense periods of time, natural stones carry structures, inclusions and variations created by geological processes.
What appears inside them isn’t decoration added later.
it is part of the material itself. Each stone is a small piece of nature history,
eventually worked into something that can be worn.

Gemstones

At the bench.

Each piece passes through my hands from the first stages of making to the final finish. Shaping, soldering, filing, sanding and polishing are all part of the process behind the finished piece.
